Swiss IFIP Committee (SIC)

IFIP — International Federation of Information Processing Societies

IFIP is the international scientific and professional umbrella organization in the field of Information Technology (IT). The Swiss IT community is represented within IFIP by the SI (Swiss Informatics Society). The many activities within IFIP are shown on IFIP's Website. The connection between Switzerland and IFIP is secured in TCs and WGs.

Swiss delegates to IFIP and its Technical Committees (TC)

Each Technical committee covers one major aspect of Information Technology (like Software, Information Systems, Education, etc.). Switzerland has one delegate to IFIP's General Assembly and to each Technical Committee (see TC-Delegates). The following pages show what those delegates do, and how they are nominated and elected:

The Swiss TC-Delegates form the Swiss IFIP committee (SIC), chaired by the Swiss Delegate to IFIP's General Assembly. The SARIT Board nominates the SIC members. The SIC has its own Website.

Swiss members of IFIP Working Groups (WG)

Working Groups are international meeting opportunities for scientists on special topics. WG members discuss about new problems and solutions, terminology and similar aspects focused on their field of interest. New members are elected by the current members of a WG through co-option only, based on their scientific reputation and readiness to participate. The list of Swiss WG members shows how active Switzerland is in IT research.
